Outdoor Juniors Tournament 2022

The Basics

What is it?

Mavericks Volleyball Club is hosting a tournament for Junior Mixed Teams. There will be a 4-a-side Under 16s competition and a 6-a-side Under 18s competition. On the day there will also be a cakes, snacks and drinks sale.

When is it?

It will run from 10AM till 6PM on Sunday 11 September 2022. Exact times for each division will be confirmed closer to a tournament date.

Where is it?

The tournament is being held at Woodford Park Leisure Centre, Haddon Drive, Woodley, Reading RG5 4LY. There is free parking on site. 

Toilet facilities are available in Woodford Park Leisure Centre. Soft drinks, snacks and cakes will be available to purchase (only cash will be accepted).

How do I enter a team?

All are welcome to register a team using this form if you are interested. The cost will be £30 for each Under 16 team and £40 for each Under 18 team.

Terms & Conditions

Divisions and Pricing

  • Mixed Under 16 4-a-side £30/team
  • Mixed Under 18 6-a-side £40/team
  • Medals will be awarded to winners, runners up and 3rd places in each division

 Registration

  • Registration is open till 7th September; 50% of the full entry fee will be deducted should a team pull out after this date
  • Registration is only completed once the payment is received and confirmation sent to the participating team
  • Each club must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of team’s participation; details of adult and emergency contact must be provided on registration form
  • In the event of bad weather tournament might have to be postponed, in case of cancellation the fees will be refunded

Rules for players

  • Players competing in Under 16 division must not have reached their 16th  birthday as on 11 September 2022
  • Players competing in Under 18 division must not have reached their 18th  birthday as on 11 September 2022
  • Players can play for one team only, unless teams are in different divisions (i.e. the same player can compete in U16 as well as U18)

Games on court

  • The FIVB rules will apply
  • Team shirts are not mandatory
  • Match format and timing of the games will be confirmed closer to a tournament date.
  • Minimum 4 players on court at any given time and maximum 5 players in a team for Under 16 4-a-side division
  • Minimum 5 players on court at any given time, maximum 7 in a team for Under 18 6-a-side division
  • Teams competing in U18 division need to provide referees and scorers as per schedule (they do not need to be qualified)

Venue Rules

We are keen to foster a strong working relationship with the venue for future tournaments, so would really appreciate if everyone can follow their rules:

  • Alcoholic drinks and BBQs are not allowed
  • Dogs are permitted but must be kept on leash and away from the playing
  • Please keep the place tidy by disposing rubbish in the bins
